From a tiny little newborn to a one-year-old, it’s been so much fun watching baby Graham grow over this last year. I absolutely adore all of my First Year Collective babies (and their family!), so it’s always a little bittersweet doing their first birthday photoshoot.
To celebrate Graham turning one, we started with family photos outside and could not have asked for a better evening. The weather was perfect, the boys had fun and as always, Mom and Dad just took in every moment with their boys.
One of my favorite things about documenting a baby’s first year is seeing the bond grow between them and their older siblings. As both a photographer and a Mom of two, I know just how important that is. Will they have anything to do with each other? Will big brother be gentle? Allll the things, right? And the truth is, some are more gentle than others, some are all about baby, and some need more time.
During Graham’s newborn session, I could see that big brother was going to be protective. He was gentle and attentive to his needs, and that’s only grown over the last year. They are close in age, and sure they will be brothers and bicker and do all the things, but they truly are the best little buddies. The best part? I get to photograph it now so that once they are older, they will be able to look back on the memories they created as a family.
After family photos outside, we headed into the studio for Graham’s cake smash. I love this part of the first birthday photoshoot. You never know what you’re going to get, but it’s sure to bring a lot of joy and laughter for all! And you guys, Graham LOVED the cake. In fact, his reaction may be one of my favorites. He was so proud of himself and his smile, it lights up the room!
Happy Birthday, Graham!
Documenting your baby’s first year and your family’s memories is an honor that I do not take lightly. It’s a year full of milestones that pass too quickly and never want to forget. We take a limited number of first year collectives per year- be sure to contact us if you’re expecting!
