Today’s world is so different than it used to be even from just a decade ago. We have plenty of activities and entertainment to fill our days, but finding room for quality time together as a family is getting a little harder. We all have so many commitments pulling us in different directions.

That being said, it warms my heart to see so many families making committed efforts to fight the busyness and find creative ways to have fun together. Scheduling a family photoshoot is a great way to do that! You get great photos to document milestones each year as the kids get older. Plus, it’s really a fun activity that simply requires focusing on each other and nothing else. 

When I take families out to St. Pete’s Beach, I encourage them to just have fun and not worry too much about the camera. Go play in the waves, swing your kiddos around until they erupt in laughter and take time to notice the seashells. Just relax and do what makes you happy knowing that I’ll be there to capture all the sweetest moments and tiniest details for you.

The Matis family did just that. They have three kids – eight, five, and three – who are the sweetest crew you’ll ever meet. Leah is the ring leader of the group, and her playful younger brothers keep her busy. They all had a blast together on this gorgeous evening as they explore the beach. They are such a sweet representation of childhood, and they had no trouble carrying on while I took photos. The smiles were endless, and I got a good workout in trying to keep up with their energetic adventures.
