I’ve had the honor of photographing the Davila family for several years now. Without fail, we take their annual family portraits every January. Last year was at St. Pete Beach and this year we met up at Cypress Point Park. We could not have asked for a better sunset or start to 2021.
If I can describe what I aim for in every family session with just one word, it would be JOY. And you guys, this family is full of so much joy and it gets better and better with every annual family portrait session. Did I mention, the love, their connection, and just sheer excitement for life are infectious?
What I love most is that you can feel it in their portraits too. In 20 years the Davila’s will look back on these portraits and feel the same joy they felt in these moments. Imagine if they didn’t make this a priority each year? They would be missing out on so much.
Annual family portraits. You have to make it a priority. Set aside the time, find a photographer you love, and commit- once a year, that’s it.
I’ve found that it’s a lot easier for clients to be consistent. For some, this means scheduling their family session during the same season every year, others around an anniversary, and for some their children’s birthdays. Whatever it is, find what works for your family.
I know it’s a lot of work, but I promise it’s worth it. You’ll have photos for them to take to school and when they turn 18 and leave home. You’ll have photos of them to share with their spouse and one day to compare to see if their babies look like them. And the truth is, you’ll have photos for when your memory fades.
Here’s the deal: you won’t regret it, Mom. Dad, you won’t either. We book family portrait sessions months in advance, so be sure to contact us to schedule yours!
