Below are a few samples of my studio newborns session! With each sessions I aim to deliver about of 40 images for my clients to choose from. I typically do 3 bean bag “looks” – I consider each color blanket color to be a “look”. During each look I make small variations to the pose and to the accessories by changing out headbands or wraps/blankets. These poses are great for using on your birth announcements.
After the beanbag poses we do family shots (the only exception would be if siblings will be in the photos – in which case those will be done first so that the siblings don’t have to wait.) During family shots I aim to get 2 family poses, and two of each break down (mom + baby, dad + baby, siblings + baby, mom & dad + baby) This gives you a lot of variety!
Finally during the last part of the session I do “prop” poses these are using various buckets, baskets, boxes etc. ALL that I provide. These are the images that I’m known for and often people request. They are rich in texture and are done using my unique and authentic barn wood floors and vintage accents. I strive for 3 “looks” using 3 entirely different props.
How do I pose baby?
I use “baby lead posing” throughout my session meaning I will place baby into a pose and then allow them to guide the direction. So if baby is uncomfortable after my guidance, I will give them a break and then follow the direction they are preferring to settle into.
How do you get baby so sleepy?
Prior to your session I will send you a list of tips to help prep baby the session. These tips help baby get into a deeper sleep. All newborn studio sessions are to be done within the first 2 weeks of life to help ensure baby stays nice and sleepy. Since baby is unable to see far or to focus/interact with me or the camera for a few months this is the most ideal time to get true newborn images.
What do you provide?
I provide everything for baby during the session using the guidance from parents to color preference and I also love for parents to send me photos of the space they intend to display these images so I can get a feel for their personal style and the “feel” of the room.
What happens after our session?
Following your session I will hand edit each image with the finest attention to detail! I smooth skin, remove blemishes and make sure each image you see is flawless. 2-3 weeks follwoing your session you will recieve your images through an online gallery. This gallery can be shared with others so they too can pick what they would like to have and purchase for themselves. From your gallery you can select a variety of products including fine art prints, heirloom quality canvases, photo blocks, digital image collections and albums. Finally you will also receive a link to my Tiny Prints store front to order you custom newborn announcement to share your adorable little one with your dearest friends and family.
