Kim contacted me for a family portrait session asking for that warm glowing light of sunset… in the photography world we call this the “golden hour”. It is without a doubt my favorite time to shoot. For a family portrait session I only use natural light and prefer to work in nature on the out skirts of the city. I found this little patch just east of Ybor City that I have fallen in love with. This photo shoot was the first session I used this little piece of rustic heaven. And since I have had clients ask for this specific location. And you will see why!
So without any hesitation its safe to say this is one of the prettiest places I have found that is still inside that Tampa City Limits. Its just the perfect balance of green yet still raw.
Kim came to me asking to incorporate a special announcement for their family Christmas Card. So her son, only 2 held up the sign so proudly announcing that he was to be a “big brother”! Kim is due with her second baby, a girl this Summer and I can’t wait to meet her!!
I stive to revolve around the kids during my family session, its important to keep the mood light and fun. I always aim to capture that “portrait” that everyone needs for the holiday card or for the traditional family portrait BUT I also capture moments during the portrait session that are truly for the family. Laughter, hugs and kisses, reading a book, horse play — its true life and for parents these are the images they adore for their own keeping. With every family there are different needs and wants for a family session – I strive to meet all of them! The best sessions are the ones with little expectation – kids can have fun and parents can enjoy their children! When Kim told me she and her family had so much fun during their session I knew my job was well done!
