A little while back I shared about my breastfeeding journey with my first two babies. Now that I have had our third, Chloe (pictured above!), I have had many of you ask that I share our journey as we go through it. Keep in mind, every Momma is different and what works for me may not work for you. How you approach breastfeeding your baby is so personal. Whether it be a method or product, there is no one-size-fits-all.
As a busy, working Mom that also really wants to breastfeed (by breast or bottle), there are certain “must-haves” that I have found along the way to set us up for success. Feel free to try some of these suggestions and send me a message or email if you have discovered any breastfeeding must-haves I should know about!
Third Love Nursing Bra – This is hands down the most comfortable bra I have ever put on. So much so, I forget I am wearing it until I go to take it off. It comes in an array of sizes, even if not nursing.
Blanqi nursing pads – I am someone that needs nursing pads, especially in the beginning. I prefer reusable ones. Not only are they eco-friendly, but they are a lot more comfortable. After trying several different ones, I have found the ones from Blanqi to work best for me. The no-slip material goes up against the bra and stays put. It’s absorbent and wide enough to where it doesn’t look lumpy.
Water Bottle – Seems silly and maybe a little obvious, but I can never seem to get enough water during those early postpartum days and when I am breastfeeding. Staying hydrated is not only beneficial for my own health but it can impact my supply a lot.
I can be pretty picky when it comes to water bottles. I want it to be easy to clean and it must have a straw. For whatever reason, I drink more from a straw! And if I am being really honest, I drink more water when it’s flavored. The crystal light lemonade packets are my favorite.
Boppy Breastfeeding Pillow – Honestly, these are really subjective and there are several to choose from. I never used one with Maverick and Scarlett was so small. However, I use it ALL THE TIME with Chloe. It’s great for nursing, tummy time and we even use it to give support for the big kids to hold her.
Lansinoh Nipple Cream – This may or may not be something you need, but always good to have on hand the first few days, especially with your first baby.
Tops/Cardigan – Buttons are your friend, Momma! I LOVE this henley-style tank (and shirt style as well). Living in Tampa, I can get by wearing this year-round. When it’s chilly out or if I need a cover-up for some reason, I wear this cardigan I shared in my maternity must-haves.
I really do try to keep things simple and keep to what I know works and makes me feel good.
