Baby’s First Year: Newborn, Six Months and First Birthday

From the minute people find out your pregnant, they start telling you alllll the things. Some helpful, some not as much, and some are just bittersweet truths. Baby’s don’t keep. Time flies. Soak up every moment. And one day, you’ll even miss the middle of the night feedings and diaper changes. It’s all true. Your baby’s first year will fly by and despite your best efforts, you won’t be able to freeze time.

I’m not even sure most parents realize it when it’s happening, especially first-time parents. It all feels like a blur. But one day you’ll wake up and realize that the tiny little baby you once could hold in the palm of your hand just let go of that very same hand to take their first steps. And in between, they grow so much. So while you may not be able to freeze time, you can make a plan to document those memories and ensure that you never have to forget.

The Croft family did just that and my goodness, it was such a fun year photographing this sweet girl. Mom and Dad are two of the most genuine and welcoming people I’ve ever met. You can’t help but smile when you’re around them and it’s made for some of my most memorable sessions. While it’s a little bittersweet to see this baby girl graduate from the first year collective, I am so excited to watch her grow throughout her toddler years!

But first, a look back over her first year and a little Q&A with Mom and Dad as we continue to celebrate Dads this month!

“His unending love for our little girl. I love and admire how active he is in all aspects of her life; from the fun times to the weary times. My husband truly has the patience of a saint.”

Everything!!! There’s no better feeling than seeing your child smile and laugh. I truly enjoy all aspects of being a dad.”

While working from home my nanny called out and I was thrust into dad-duty while working. While leading a conference call my daughter had a blowout during my meeting and everyone heard the “explosion”. Needless to say, I had to pivot on the fly. Everyone had a good laugh.”

Stop feeding the dog your food.”

Brittany makes it easy to be authentic during the photo session. She’s great to be around and always puts up with our humor.”
