We had an absolute pleasure being this family’s half birthday family session photographer! It never ceases to amaze us how much babies change from one month to the next during that very first year. It’s astonishing how they go from sitting to running in just a matter of months. Can you imagine if we kept on growing and changing at the same rate? Who knows what all we would be able to do!

Some families seem a little skeptical at first about doing multiple milestone sessions during those first couple years, but we know the ones who go for it are so glad they did! Between the diaper changes, feedings, and sleepless nights, everything goes by in blur. Before you know it, your little one who fit in the palm of your hands is suddenly racing by you in the hallway in hot pursuit of a big sister who just took his toy. I always encourage parents to freeze these moments. Soak it all in. It may be a whirlwind of craziness, but it really is so much fun.

Baby Luke was born on in the fall of 2018, and he was celebrating his half birthday with a fun family lifestyle shoot at their home. His nursery was decorated just beautifully with lots of neutral gray, bright white, and subtle blue. It was the perfect setting with all of the natural light streaming through the windows.

Luke was so excited to show off his new tummy time skills. He had the superman pose down, and he kept lifting his arms and legs toward the ceiling. So cute! I loved his little baby wrinkles. He’s also sitting up like a champ, and I can tell he’s getting eager to walk! 

His big sister Amelia admitted that she had wanted a baby sister, but it’s pretty clear that she adores baby Luke. She was so excited to have him around and love on him, and he thinks the world of her, too. But she’s not the only one watching out for him – the family dog, Layla, loves to watch over Luke, too, and follows him constantly.

This family is just the sweetest, and we had a blast during our session together!
