Something you may not know about me is that I am a former nurse. I loved that part of my career, and as I took care of others, I saw a lot of life happen. In between the difficult times and illness were even sweeter moments. Mothers holding their babies, loved ones showing just how much they care, strong family bonds overcoming health challenges. I loved watching all of the love happen during my time as a nurse. But when I realized I had an eye for photography and a passion for people, I couldn’t say no to my calling as a photographer. I loved being this family’s Tampa newborn photographer!

This family found me through their neighbors. I quickly learned that she is a nurse, and we immediately connected. I know firsthand how difficult yet rewarding her job is. And now she has another wonderful role to fill as a first-time mother! She and her husband were blessed with a sweet baby girl named Jemma. The name fits this little beauty perfectly! I had such a lovely time getting to know them, exchanging a few quips about nursing, and photographing their beautiful family. Our time flew by!

Baby Jemma also has fur-brother named Murphy, an overly loving border collie. When I asked how the transition was going with him, they laughed, “He has toomuch love for her. We are having to restrict him from kissing the baby head to toe! But we can see them being best friends in the near future.” I’m sure Jemma will soon return the affection with full-body toddler hugs in the next year or so.

In my questionnaire, I always think it’s funny to see how parents answer the question: “What’s baby’s favorite thing to do so far?” The majority of them answer just like this mama, “Eating, farting, and sleeping.” I guess about right when you can’t do much on your own! Welcome to the world, little one!
